Out with the old...in with the new!

Yeah!!!! We have hauled away 8000 pounds of old stuff, now we get to start bringing in the new stuff! Tomorrow we will be installing a support beam so we can tear down two walls in the lobby. We also purchased our first NEW item for the space...a vanity for the new bathroom! I know I'm a bit premature but I did pick out some paint samples, too! Things are going to start taking shape quickly! So excited!!!

Happy Birthday, Nate!

We took the night off of work yesterday to enjoy Nate's birthday at the MN Wild game! Bummer that the Wild lost but we were with great friends and enjoyed each other's company! Sometimes it's good to play!

Dumpster #1

Wow! I am feeling like someone beat the crap outta me! Today, my mom & I loaded up the dumpster with old carpet, light fixtures, tiles, cabinets and tons of plaster!!! I barely have enough energy to write this blog!!! I feel like the worst is over and now we have a blank canvas to start creating something beautiful! Super excited...an exhausted! -Teresa

Ceiling...Down!

Yeah! Monumental Day! Ceiling is completely down in the lobby and so is one of the four walls!!! Whoo-hoo! Tomorrow the dumpster arrives so we can start chucking all the old stuff to clear the way for the new stuff! Super exciting day for us!

Also had a fabulous shoot this evening with a gorgeous model named Rachel out of Minneapolis. We even got to utilize our fabulous hair & make-up artist Sammi. We had an awesome night!

TIME OUT!

Well that didn't last long. I felt the need to take back the reigns temporarily and give you guys a proper update on the status. Not some silly videos of me with too much dust on the brain... Here is the daily video clip update of the assignment for the day along with a 360˙ sneak peak of the whole studio as it stands now. Shame on Teresa for subjecting you to the behind the scenes silliness!

Lobby & Sales Room Under Construction!!!

So today we ripped down one of the plaster walls in the Sales Room, took down the drop ceiling in the lobby, removed all the paneling in the lobby and started breaking off the plaster on the ceiling in the lobby. Needless to say, our building looks like the set from "The Hurt Locker" a total war zone!!! Kinda scary and kinda exciting at the same time. We also had our friend Ben Peterson come in and assist with removing some light fixtures and help us figure out which old wires were 'hot' and which weren't. GOOD ADVICE when dealing with electrical! Right now, we are exhausted and going to bed to watch Comedy Central and then hit it again tomorrow before another model shoot!

On a side note, because of all the dust and debris in the air, we were advised to get good ventilator masks. Nate thought they were the coolest things in the world!!! (Perhaps we didn't get him the mask soon enough!)

Nate & Teresa's BIG Adventure!

Hi All! I am super excited that Nate has passed this HUGE responsibility to me! I am pumped! Does he have any idea what he's getting into!?!? I get to share all the "behind the scenes" stuff!

What I'm most psyched about is our new adventure!!! You may say we are crazy and by the time we are done-we just might be!!! We are selling our house and buying a 100 year old building to convert into a full service boutique studio with basement loft living quarters. Yep, you heard me-we are selling our beautiful 3000 square ft home to live in a basement. I know it sounds harsh but it's going to be so rockin' cool! Right now, it's a disaster! Even though our home still hasn't sold yet, we have officially started the renovation. We ripped up about 1500 square feet of carpet to find beautiful maple hardwood...at least they will be beautiful when we the crappy tar paper off!!!! Yep-that's what you get when you renovate a 100 year old building...lots of treasure covered by lots of crap!!! So here is your first sneak peak at our ghetto fabulous new studio!

Passing the Torch

As you could maybe tell, this blog authoring commitment hasn't been all that successful for me. That being said, this will be my sign off as the main blog author. I pass the torch to my wife, assistant and business partner, Teresa, who will keep you posted on the status of all things NP Design & Photography. I promise the updates will be more frequent, the material will be more interesting, and the grammar will probably be a lot poorer. Poorer? Is that a word? ;) The other thing I am excited to share with you is the reasoning behind this change. There is a lot happening at NP Design & Photography. We have a lot of very exciting changes that will be occurring in the near future. We hope that you will enjoy following the progress of our adventure and give provide feedback, encouragement and support as we go through everything that is to come. With that, I present to you, the new star of the show... Teresa...
